Welcome to The Dallas Tennis Classic.
The Dallas Tennis Classic is returning in 2013 for its annual stop on the ATP Challenger Tour with a prize money purse of $125,000.
In 1978, a circuit of events was formed in North America which comprised tournaments of $25,000, sponsored by the American Express Company. From this circuit was born the concept of a stepping-stone to the Grand Prix circuit, as it was known at that time. From these meager beginnings, where only a sparse array of tournaments existed, the Challenger calendar now consists of a world-wide circuit of over one hundred and seventy events in more than fifty countries with prize money in 2010 reaching $10 million.
The Dallas Tennis Classic is sanctioned by the ATP – the principal organizer of
the men’s professional tennis tour. All of the top 50 ATP players are required to
participate in both the BNP Paribas Open in Indian Wells, California, and the
Sony Ericsson Open in Key Biscayne, Florida. The Dallas Tennis Classic is conveniently scheduled and located between these two distinguished events, a week that has consistently drawn top players as they travel from California to Florida.
Typically, the top 50 players are not allowed to play in challenger events, but an exception applies for the Dallas Tennis Classic, encouraging players positioned 11-50 in the ATP rankings to compete for the highest prize money of $125,000 plus hospitality, in the 2013 ATP Challenger calendar.
Well-known players who have previously played in this tournament include Juan Martin del Potro (ARG), Gael Monfils (FRA), Tommy Haas (GER), Marin Cilic (CRO), James Blake (USA), Robin Soderling (SWE), Fernando Gonzalez (CHI), Thomas Berdych (CZE), Ivo Karlovic (CRO), Gustavo Kuerten (BRA), Gilles Simon (FRA), Todd Martin (USA), Thomas Enqvist (SWE), Juergen Melzer (AUT), and many more.
The Four Seasons Resort and Club is a perfect venue for this type of international event. The resort style atmosphere provides a luxurious one-of-a-kind experience for sponsors, players and spectators. This week for the event is perfectly placed in the ATP Challenger Tour calendar as there are special rules that apply to the Dallas Tennis Classic that makes it the most desired tournament for all parties involved.
Parking is $5.00 and includes the Tournament Program and an Order of Play Sheet.
